Sanibel sightseeing shelling charter 2013

With the strong storms hitting the shores of Sanibel and Captiva Islands so have the shells. Shelling in SW Florida has been phenomenal lately. We took some time off with the family during our slower fishing time to spend some time on Cayo Costa. Cayo Costa is a barrier Island north of Upper Captiva and south of Boca Grande here in Lee County.

We were able to take a few minutes to swim in the clear water and collect some excellent shell specimens just off the shore break. No Junonias this time but we did collect our go-to favorite Olive shells. They look as if they were lacquered to a high gloss by the hand of Mother Nature.

Redfish caught by Rhett Fischer

Since this is a fishing report…we’d like to report that redfish has been on fire. Huge schools of reds have been gathering off the beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel and we’ve taken advantage of catching these beautiful copper beauties.
