Sanibel Fishing Charters

Beautiful Copper colored Redfish caught near Sanibel Island.

Redfish fishing is heating up and is in full swing in and around Sanibel Island and Pine Island sound. Consistent action can be found near mangrove islands on the high and falling tides with large schools working the flats and bars during the low tide while fishing the Sanibel, Fort Myers Beach and Captiva Islands. Endless Summer Charters has had awesome success fishing live pilchards (small silver bait ranging 2″-6″) with knocker rigs under the bushes and potholes then cruising the flats of Sanibel on the low tides looking for large schools pushing water or tailing. Free lining baits as well as using a float to keep baits off the bottom is a must. Big chunks of lady fish have worked as well.

Catching Redfish in a Refish print shirt is pretty special indeed!

This past weekend I had the honor to fish with a group of awesome female anglers who represented Port Sanibel Marina and participated in the  2016 Racks and Reels Breast Cancer tournament. The tournament was an all female event.  The twelve heaviest lady fish won the tournament with the addition of a mystery fish being the largest redfish that could be caught and release by the weigh master.  My daughter was one of those team members that caught the LARGEST redfish and made me very proud by landing  a 7lb, 25.6 inch slot red that won the Calcutta for our team! Nothing better than seeing her big smile after we got the redfish on the deck. We were so excited to get it in the livewell that we failed to take any photos of the redfish!  We do however have a photo of Team Coastal Outfitters below. I was honored to captain and guide the ladies to the win!

My all ladies team won the Calcutta with the Largest Redfish! The winning angler is arrowed.

With cooler temperature slowing approaching SW Florida and rainy season slowly coming to an end, I expect this kind of redfish action to continue well into December. Book your charter today With Endless Summer Charters. We look forward to having you on board.

Fall Tarpon – Sanibel Fishing Charters!

By fishing charters Sanibel, fort myers fishing guide, Sanibel fishing charters, Sanibel Fishing Guide

We are starting off a little earlier than usual with our fall flats fishing trend. Big tarpon have been making random appearances off the beaches, Delicious triple tail are out floating with the left over crab pods and no wake  Markers, and what seems like endless amounts of Spanish Mackeral & Jack Creval schools are terrorizing the bait schools off the beaches. All of which will readily eat a lively Pilchard or Threadfin. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed for good Sanibel weather to go along with an awesome bite!

Summer is cooling down, Redfish are heating up!

Summer days are starting to feel a little cooler lately, and when that happens. Our schools of redfish are not to far behind. We’ve been seeing numerous schools on just about every shallow grass flat in our bay.

It’s exciting for us in that the redfish often times are spotted by them waiving their big bronze tail out of the water. They are spooky, but sneaky casts at them are not often over looked!

It is HOT! Not only the weather but fishing is hot despite the warm temperatures.  We are lucky to live on the coast near the beaches of Sanibel and Fort Myers. The sea breezes give a little relief to our coastal areas while inland towns are sweltering.

It’s always nice to go swimming in the Gulf after a few hours of fishing and maybe even stop for a cocktail at Cabbage Key or Tarpon Lodge.  We now even offer lunch trips to Useppa, a private club and island only reachable by boat. Take a dip in the pool grab a cocktail and get cooled down for an afternoon of fishing for redfish and snook!

blogger-image-716909777 We have had some real “Chamber of Commerce” days with our weather. November is my wife’s favorite time of year because it’s the best of everything, weather, fishing, clear water and no waiting time at restaurants!

The high pressure that gives us this great weather can also make for some unfavorable fishing conditions. However with a little planning you can you have an incredible day. I had the opportunity to fish with some great families for the last few days and we found ourselves with extra low tides in the morning. We started out by fishing exposed osyster bars and grass flats in Pine Island Sound which produced so many redfish we lost count! Several slot size snook as well as a few small bonnet sharks.

As the tide rolled in along with the wind we worked into the shoreline and creeks to stay out the wind where the schools of jacks were so abundant we almost ran out of bait. Several snook and snapper where caught as well. With winter fast approaching in this perfect days of fall are soon to come to an end which only means Pompano and sheepshead should be knocking on our door pretty soon.

Winter Species Sanibel Fishing Charters

Carrie Vollmer visiting from Michigan got a chance to wrangle a few black drum and redfish today while enjoying this great weather.

November is a great month for fishing. Not only is the weather great here (sunny and 73 tomorrow) but some good eating species start to return. Mackerel, pompano, sheepshead, black drum and mangrove snapper are among some of the species that are great table fare that migrate here starting in October.

We hope you!ll be lucky enough to visit us in the fall when Sanibel and Fort Myers fishing is incomparable!
